Asparagus, long regarded as one of the foods of love is back!
The season of that infamous phallic stick -Asparagus, officially started in England on May 1st.
Depending on the weather Asparagus can start as early as mid-April and the harvest lasts for approximately 6 weeks, until mid-June.
Excuse my modesty, but throughout the year I make three fantastic seasonal risottos - pea and mint, mushroom and asparagus.
Risotto is quick and easy to make and you can fool the children as to what exactly they are eating.
Luckily they love Asparagus on its own, drizzled with heart attack amounts of butter.
Although I don't eat meat, I do occasionally eat certain fish, one of which is Sardine.
Growing up, this was a staple dinner, along with Mackerel, cooked by my Grandma, grilled on brown toast with butter.
Sardines as well as a number of other fish are starting to make an appearance again.
A lot more produce is becoming locally available again and you should start to see a re-emergence of vegetable box schemes.
